Shares in birth control companies have surged after Korea's 62-year-old "anti-cheating law" was abolished on Thursday.

Shares in condom maker Unidus soared 14.9 percent to 3,120 won ($2.84) after the Constitutional Court ruling.

Shares in morning-after pill maker Hyundai Pham also climbed 9.7 percent.

In a seven-to-two vote, the nine-member court ruled Article 241 of the Criminal Code that makes adultery a crime was no longer valid. The decision took effect immediately.

Live TV comedy show SNL Korea on Saturday satirized the ruling by inviting online cartoonist Kim Pong to the show.

Kim predicted lawyers would be inundated with civil lawsuits.
