K-pop boy band BTS has received a prestigious iF Design Award 2018 for brand identity.
The band's agency Big Hit Entertainment said Thursday the seven-member group won the Corporate Identity and Branding Award in the communication design category.
The German design award, established in 1953, selected the band's brand identity for representing youth constantly trying to grow and mature. Big Hit Entertainment launched the brand identity last July.
The group has drawn attention from mainstream U.S. media after beating famous artists, including Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez, to win the Top Social Artist Award at the 2017 Billboard Music Awards last May. BTS has since performed on several mainstream TV shows.
The iF Design Award 2018 is regarded as one of the world's top three design awards, along with the Reddot Design Award and the International Design Excellence Awards.
BTS's songs have struck a chord with young people because they cover such universal topics as mental health, anxiety about the future and the growing pains of teenagers who are stressed by parental pressure to succeed. These common issues have brought global fans together
