Singapore tightened its security on Sunday (June 10) ahead of the arrival of U.S. President Donald Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, 48 hours before the historic meeting between the leaders.

Security checkpoint led by the police and armed special force had been set up on the entrance of St. Regis Hotel where Kim was expected to stay.

The North Korean leader is expected to fly into Changi airport later in the day and is due to meet Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong, the country's ministry of foreign affairs said in a statement.

Meanwhile, security at the Shangri-La Hotel, located about 750 meters away, remained relatively loose. Donald Trump is expected to stay at the hotel after arriving at Paya Lebar Airbase late this evening. (Reuters)
