The popularity of eSports is soaring and social news aggregation site Reddit is a favored way for fans to share information about their favorite teams.

Most use it to tell each other about the activities of their various competitions.

There also are many "subreddits" ― a discussion board or specialized lists of threads based on a specific topic ― dedicated to eSports games such as "League of Legends" and "Overwatch." The former has 1.6 million subscribers and the latter 1.3 million.

Many eSports celebrities also comment on these subreddits, boosting fan interest. One of them, Michael Santana, known for his "League of Legends" (LoL) username imaqtpie, frequently posts on the LoL subreddit.

The togetherness that Reddit communities on eSports provide is something that has been missing in conventional sporting events.

Reddit eSports communities play a significant role in creating interest in the sport, encouraging people to attend competitions.
