South Korean President Moon Jae-in sent a congratulatory message to the 12 Thai boys and their soccer coach who were trapped in a flooded cave for 17 days, hoping they all safely return to their families.

Moon released the message on his Facebook account at noon Wednesday. The President is on his way to Singapore after a state visit to India.

"The Thai boys are now all safely back with their families, a miracle made possible by the brave rescue crew, the coach and the boys themselves," Moon wrote. "I wish them all a speedy recovery, and remind myself that always, the primary duty of a state is guarding the safety of its people."

The boys and their coach lost an average of 2 kilograms each during their ordeal but were generally in good condition and showed no signs of stress, Reuters reported on Wednesday, citing a senior Thai health official.
