The Grand Hilton Seoul will celebrate the largest beer festival in the world -- Munich's Oktoberfest -- here in Seoul on Saturday evening, Sept. 8.

Launched in 2007, the Grand Hilton Seoul's Oktoberfest has now become the property's signature festival, attracting more than 1,000 visitors every year and receiving rave reviews thanks to its local festive atmosphere and traditional German cuisine.

For its successful 12th Oktoberfest, Grand Hilton General Manager Bernhard Brender, from Pravlak, Germany, and his staff are set to hold one of the best-ever beer festivals this year.

"If there is Chuseok in Korea, the largest traditional festival in Germany is Oktoberfest," he said.

"Only the Grand Hotel Seoul has been able to perfectly reproduce Munich's Oktoberfest for the longest period of time within Korea."

Beginning with an exciting performance of the local German band Anton Band, invited for the event, the hotel staff will greet visitors dressed in traditional German clothes, with decorations replicating Munich. Also, there will be various games such as chugging contests, nail hammering and arm wrestling. In particular, a lucky draw will take place with impressive prizes that include round-trip Lufthansa airline tickets to Germany.

Visitors can also enjoy unlimited draft beers, Ayinger Oktoberfest Marzen and Ayinger Brauweisse, from Germany's best brewery that cannot be easily found in Korea.

The former is a seasonal beer produced specifically for Munich's Oktoberfest and it has been brewed since March in preparation for the festival in September. As it has not yet been officially imported to Korea, it is a special beer that can only be enjoyed on this one day.

The Grand Hilton's experienced chefs have prepared a wide variety of traditional German dishes which include Bavarian white sausage, Black Forest ham and Schweinshaxe that will be made readily available in an all-you-can-eat buffet.

This year, various companies will be supporting the event including Lufthansa, Ayinger, Agrosuper, Jagermeister, Schenker Korea, Wago Korea, Imagery Code, Treeannsea and Hilton Munich Park.

The price of a ticket is 150,000 won ($133) and it is a one-day event that starts at 6 p.m. on the fourth floor of the convention hall.
