Comedian Kim Hak-do has won at an international poker competition.

Kim told local media on Wednesday that he won at the PokerStars Live Manila Super Series 9, held at the City of Dreams Hotel Manila from Oct. 1-8.

The annual international series, hosted by PokerStars, an online poker card room owned by The Stars Group, is known as one of the world's biggest poker tours.

Kim was quoted as saying his win comes eight years after he started playing poker in 2010.

The PokerStars Live series featured 12 major tournaments and he won a prize in five of them. He said he won about 10 million won and finished 13th in the main event.

Kim is set to enter a contract with a global poker site and poker player management agency J88 Poker to become a professional player.

Kim debuted as a comedian in 1993 at MBC. He was loved for hilariously mimicking fellow comedians and celebrities. He married professional go player Han Hae-won in 2008.
