Gyeonggi Province Governor Lee Jae-myung had his body checked out by doctors, Tuesday, to disprove an allegation that he had a "big mole" on his body ― a claim put forth by actress Kim Boo-sun in a leaked voice recording as proof that she had an affair with him.

Lee has repeatedly rejected Kim's claims that he had a 15-month liaison with her starting in December 2007. The results of the checkup were in his favor and this is expected to help Lee have the upper hand in the years-long dispute with the actress over her claims of a close relationship.

"There were no signs of a mole in the specified area," said doctors at Ajou University Hospital in Suwon, Gyeonggi Province. "There was no mole, or signs of laser or surgery treatment that could have removed it."

The procedure took seven minutes. Three reporters were also present to witness the proceedings.

The controversy started from a leaked recording of a phone call between Kim and her friend, novelist Gong Ji-young, in which Kim claimed there was a round mole on a certain area of the governor's body.

Saying the mole was key evidence of their affair, Kim said she planned to use it as a last resort if the case went to court.

Lee said on Facebook, Saturday, he would reveal his body "so the issue would not damage my management of Gyeonggi Province and the lives of 13 million people here."

He asked the police to inspect his body, but the police refused, so instead he opted for a checkup at the hospital.

"Having proven the claims by Kim Boo-sun to be false, we hope there will be no more useless debate on the issue, allowing Governor Lee Jae-myung to focus on running Gyeonggi Province," Lee's spokesman Kim Yong said after the check.
