KB Financial Group has been listed on the Dow Jones Sustainability Indices (DJSI) recognizing companies with sustainable business practices for three consecutive years.

The group was also named as Korea's best firm in the financial sector on the indices.

"As a world-class corporate citizen, KB will continue doing its best to fulfill its social responsibility while leading the nation's corporate culture to ensure a sustainable society," said a KB Financial Group official.

In a bid to solidify its industry leader's position, KB is reinforcing nonbanking sectors such as insurance, securities and credit cards while beefing up its wealth management business at home and abroad.

The group said it will also invest more in overseas businesses to overcome the nation's saturated financial market and diversify its revenue sources.

The DJSI recognizes only 317 companies, or 12.6 percent, from the top 2,521 global companies in market capitalization. In the banking sector, a total of 27 global players such as Citigroup, Bank of America and BNP Paribas were included in the list along with KB Financial Group this year.

The Dow Jones Sustainability Indices, jointly calculated by Standard & Poor's Dow Jones Indices and Switzerland-based RobecoSAM, selects companies for their excellent sustainability through the assessment of numerous criteria such as corporate governance, customer relations, environmental policy, working conditions and social initiatives.

The indices serve as benchmarks for investors that seek to integrate sustainability considerations into their portfolios.
