Foreign residents account for 4 percent of Jeju Island's population.

According to the Ministry of Interior and Safety's latest report, there were 25,646 foreign residents on the island last year. The total population was 641,757.

It is the fourth-highest foreign population in the nation, following South Chungcheong Province (4.8 percent), Gyeonggi Province (4.7 percent) and Seoul (4.2 percent).

But Jeju saw the fastest growth in the number, up 16 percent from the previous year, followed by Sejong (11.1 percent) and Gwangju (10.4 percent).

Meanwhile, the number of foreign residents in Korea stood at 1,861,084 last year, accounting for 3.6 percent of the country's population. It was a 5.5 percent increase from the previous year.
