Insulation produced by LG Hausys has obtained a factory mutual (FM) approval granted by U.S.-based mutual insurance company FM Global in recognition of the product's fire safety, the company said Thursday.
The housing material manufacturer said its Z:IN phenol foam (PF) insulation board obtained the approval for the first time among domestic organic insulation boards.
FM Global is one of the international leaders in third-party testing and certification services. The company said FM Global rigorously screens products from manufacturing processes, and conducts fire room tests.
It mainly tests how well products prevent loss of property and services in industrial and commercial facilities, LG Hausys said, noting that the complexity of the certification process has made FM approvals recognized worldwide.
It said the PF insulation board satisfied FM Global's combustion characteristics and fire test standard, acquiring ceiling and wall panel certification.
"By obtaining the FM approval, LG Hausys proved that its PF insulation board has world-level fire safety," said Park Ki-bong, a vice president at LG Hausys Decorative Materials Division. "We will continue to make investments and develop technologies to raise fire safety further to lead the high-performance insulation market."
