A Big Hit Entertainment producer and longtime BTS collaborator, Pdogg claimed the top prize for making the highest earnings from song royalties.

Pdogg, whose real name is Kang Hyo-won, has collected a hefty sum from song streaming by mixing and mastering BTS' multiple hits including "DNA," "Fake Love" and "Idol."

BTS' song "Fake Love" peaked at No.10 on the Billboard Hot 100 while its single "Idol" peaked at No.11. The group's album "Love Yourself: Tear" topped the Billboard 200 albums chart and was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Recording Package.

The "A-list producer" won three Best Producer Awards in 2018, including Gaon Chart Music Awards, Asia Artists Awards and Mnet Asian Music Awards.

Prior to the awards ceremony due on Tuesday, the Korea Music Copyright Association (KOMCA) announced the recipients of their Royalties Awards, in which they honor the composers and lyricists who have earned the most in music royalties in 2018.

At the Fifth KOMCA Awards ceremony, Pdogg will receive top prizes for both song composition and lyrics writing within the field of popular music, according to the organizer.

The award for the arrangement within popular music will go to Vanilla Man, or Jung Jae-won, who has worked on music for artists like Bolbbalgan4.

For classical music, Kim Sung-kyun will take home the award, while Park Kyung-hoon was named the winner of traditional Korean music and Lee So-young for children's music.

Founded in 1964, KOMCA is a nonprofit copyright organization with an aim of promoting popular music in Korea through advocating and protecting the rights of composers and lyricists. It also keeps a database of copyrighted works and manages their producers.

"The purpose of holding the awards ceremony is to honor songwriters who have won the hearts of the public and motivate young, aspiring musicians," a KOMCA official said.
