Angolan Ambassador to Korea Albino Malungo visited National Assembly Speaker Moon Hee-sang at the latter's office in Seoul, March 14, to discuss cooperation between the countries, his embassy said.

Malungo, dean of the African Diplomatic Corps in Korea, said Korea was "inspirational" to many African countries and that it would continue to be the most cooperative nation in the world.

"I hope Korea actively supports Angola in its pursuance of new paths," the envoy was quoted as saying by the embassy in its Korean-language press release.

He pointed out that his defense minister-turned-president was extremely interested in bilateral cooperation in the defense sector and that they signed a memorandum of understanding on military education and defense technology in 2017. "It led to closer relations and I hope to see such ties in economy, trade, education, culture and other areas," Malungo said.

National Assembly Speaker Moon thanked Malungo's "tireless efforts for bilateral ties."

Moon also told Malungo "not to forget Korea when he moves to the United Arab Emirates," pointing out that this year was Malungo's final year of positing in Korea and that he was scheduled to serve as ambassador to the UAE.

During their March 16 meeting, Malungo and Moon were joined by relevant lawmakers and parliamentary officials.

Among them were Lee Hye-hoon, from the minor opposition Bareun Mirae Party and chairwoman of parliamentary friendship association between the countries, and Park Soo-hyun, a former Cheong Wa Dae spokesman and secretary in the Assembly speaker's office.
