Will K-pop singer Jung Joon-young be arrested?

His fate is expected to be decided on Thursday, as a provincial court in Seoul started reviewing accusations against the 30-year-old entertainer ― the central figure in the widening secret sex video scandal ― at the prosecution's request.

The Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office said Thursday its written request to issue an arrest warrant for Kim had been submitted to Seoul Central District Court.

The court calls in a targeted suspect "normally" two days after the request is filed, which means, if the court follows this rule, Jung will have to appear at the court on Thursday to testify before a judge, who will decide whether or not to arrest the singer. Making a decision normally takes hours.

The court has not yet announced Jung's summoning date.

An arrest warrant is issued when a suspect can attempt to flee or tamper with evidence. If a warrant is issued, Jung will be taken to a detention center and face investigation with his physical freedom restricted.

Jung has been accused of secretly filming himself having sex with at least two women without their consent and sharing the footage with his celebrity friends in a KakaoTalk group chatroom. He admitted the offences during police questioning last week.
