Louis Vuitton launches pop-up store

Louis Vuitton launched a pop-up store for its bags, Thursday, in collaboration with Hyundai Vinyl and Plastic in Itaewon that will be open until April 25.

This is the first pop-up store solely displaying bags, not a collection of products ― a new trend for the brand. Louis Vuitton previously opened a pop-up store in New York exclusively for its "Archlight" sneakers in February last year.

For the Seoul pop-up, Louis Vuitton is mainly displaying twist bags from 2014 and onwards that have a signature twist lock of the LV logo. The bag is a well-known favorite of Swedish actress, Alicia Vikander, who is featured in Louis Vuitton's recent New Classics bag campaign.

Hyundai Vinyl and Plastic is a two-story music hub run by Hyundai Card. It has over 7,000 vinyl LPs and 16,000 CDs in different genres by artists from all over the world.

The related official of the event commented, "Hyundai Vinyl and Plastic is a popular music hub for millenials. It is a remarkable collaboration since most of our previous events took place in department stores and moreover, this is the first ever pop-up store within Hyundai Vinyl and Plastic," explaining the changing trend of displays and sales targeting the younger generation.

The pop-up store is closed on Mondays but open from noon to 9 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays and from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. Sundays. People can listen to their favorite songs while enjoying the visual juxtaposition of classic vinyl and New Classic handbags.

She added, "You can enjoy the display better considering the placement because we paid great attention to placing the right bag in the right section, according to the music genre."

"For example, this bag is the newest one in the spring and summer collection and we placed it in the pop and rock section considering its colorful splash prints and the appearance of the bag," the official explained.

Visitors can also participate in special runway video events as soon as they enter the pop-up store.
