Actress Go Won-hee has admitted having plastic surgery. However, her coming-out has not drawn the usual criticism of Korean celebrities' "before-and-after" faces, but attracted support.
배우 고원희가 성형수술을 했다고 인정했다. 연예인들은 '성형 전·후'로 대중의 비난을 받는 게 일반적이지만 고원희의 깜짝 고백은 응원의 물결을 불러일으켰다.
The star of KBS TV drama "Perfume" confessed to the surgery while answering a journalist's question at the show's press conference at the Yeouido KBS Cooking Studio in Seoul, Monday.
KBS 드라마 '퍼퓸'의 주연배우인 고원희는 월요일 여의도 KBS 쿠킹스튜디오에서 열린 드라마 기자회견 중 한 기자로부터 성형설에 관련된 질문을 받자 솔직하게 답했다.
"It is the fact," Go Won-hee coolly stated. She was more worried about her confession jeopardizing the drama's public reception.
"사실은 사실이다"라고 쿨하게 반응한 고원희는 오히려 작품에 누를 끼칠까를 걱정했다.
Go plays a 23-year-old fashion model in the fantasy-romance-comedy, a seemingly happy and naive girl. But after she comes across a mysterious incident that got her thinking she has only a year to live, she decides to forgo her superficial ego and live like her true self.
고원희는 판타지 로맨스 코미디 드라마 '퍼퓸'에서 겉으로는 행복하고 순진무구해 보이는 23세의 패션모델 '민예린'역을 맡고 있다. 그녀는 미스테리한 사건을 겪고 1년밖에 살 수 있는 시간이 남지 않았다는 것을 알게 되자, 가볍게 살아온 자신을 집어 던지고 진짜 '나'를 위해 살기로 결심한다.
Go's fans released a statement online supporting the star.
한편 고원희의 팬들은 그녀를 응원하는 온라인 성명을 발표했다.
They said Go ― whose confession has made her even more popular ― plays a complex character, for which she has been strenuously working.
이번 성형 고백으로 더 유명해진 배우 고원희의 팬들은 그녀가 드라마 '퍼퓸'의 복잡한 캐릭터를 연기하기 위해 정말 열심히 노력해왔다고 말했다.
"Her character in the show will surely be her lifetime performance to be remembered by viewers for a long time," the fans said Monday. "We ask you to hold your attention to her role (not her face)."
팬들은 "고원희의 극 중 캐릭터는 그녀의 인생 연기로 시청자들에게 두고두고 기억될 것"이라며 "우리는 시청자들이 그녀의 얼굴이 아닌 연기에 집중하길 요청한다"고 밝혔다.
