Typhoon Francisco is barreling toward the Korean Peninsula from seas off Guam, the Korea Meteorological Administration (KMA) said Saturday.
토요일 기상청에 따르면 제8호 태풍 '프란시스코'는 괌 부근에서 한국을 향해 이동중이다.
The typhoon ― classified as "small," with a central pressure of 998 hectopascals (hPa) ― is moving northwest at 16 kilometers an hour from 1,120 kilometers northeast of Guam (as of 9 a.m. Friday).
괌 북동쪽 약 1,120km 해상에서 발생한 태풍 '프란시스코'는 소형 태풍으로 중심기압은 994hPa, 최대 풍속은 시속 76km (초속 21ｍ)이다. 강풍 반경은 230km이다.
Francisco is expected to be 170 kilometers west of Jeju Island early Wednesday, battering the resort island with wind gusts and heavy rain.
태풍 프란시스코는 수요일 오전 제주도 서쪽 약 170km 부근에 도착하며, 강한 비바람이 제주도를 강타할 전망이다.
