K-pop singer Kang Daniel has been dating Jihyo from girl band TWICE, according to Kang's agency Konnect Entertainment, Monday.
강다니엘이 걸그룹 트와이스의 지효와 연애 중이라고 강다니엘의 소속사 코넥트엔터테인먼트가 월요일 밝혔다.
"Kang has been seeing Jihyo," it said.
"강다니엘이 지효를 만나고 있다"는 내용이었다.
JYP Entertainment, representing Jihyo, also confirmed the relationship.
JYP엔터테인먼트도 지효를 대표해 이 둘의 연애사실을 발표했다.
Entertainment media outlet Dispatch reported earlier Monday that Kang, 24, and Jihyo, 23, met through an unidentified idol singer in 2018 and began dating in early 2019.
월요일 오전, 연예 매체 디스패치는 강다니엘(24)과 지효(23)가 지난해 한 아이돌 가수를 통해 만나 올해 초부터 교제하기 시작했다고 보도했다.
The pair reportedly met at least once a week, mostly in Kang's high-security home in Hannam-dong, Seoul.
보도에 따르면 이 둘은 주로 보안이 뛰어난 서울 한남동 강다니엘의 자택(한남동 유엔빌리지)에서 일주일에 한 번 이상 데이트를 했다.
Dispatch said a TWICE member once drove Jihyo to Kang's residence.
디스패치는 그룹 트와이스의 멤버가 지효를 강다니엘의 집까지 차로 데려다 줬다고도 보도했다.
The two were also together on July 25, the day of Kang's solo debut. Kang released his solo debut album "Color on me," fronted by the lead number "What are you up to," and held showcase events on the day. Jihyo reportedly visited him after the events.
두 사람은 강다니엘의 솔로 데뷔일인 7월 25일에도 함께했다. 강다니엘은 이날 타이틀곡 '뭐해'를 앞세운 솔로 데뷔 앨범 '컬러 온 미(Color on me)'를 발표하고 쇼케이스 행사를 가졌다. 지효는 행사가 끝난 뒤 그를 찾아왔다고 한다.
Fans of both stars are shocked by the news. Some are enraged at Dispatch.
두 스타의 팬들은 이들의 연애 소식에 충격을 받았다. 일부는 디스패치에 분노하고 있다.
"Kang just made his solo debut. I think it is heartless to break such news at this moment," a fan commented.
강다니엘의 한 팬은 "강다니엘은 방금 솔로 데뷔를 했어. 중요한 시기에 이런 소식을 전하는 것은 양심 없는 일"이라고 댓글을 달았다.
Kang shot to fame after winning Mnet's idol audition show "Produce 101 season 2" in 2017. He joined Wanna One, the project boy band composed of the program's top 11 and found success with a string of chart-topping hits including "Energetic" (2017).
강다니엘은 재작년 엠넷의 아이돌 오디션 프로그램 '프로듀스101 시즌2'에서 우승하며 스타덤에 올랐다. 그는 프로그램의 'TOP 11'로 구성된 프로젝트 그룹 '워너원'에 합류했고, '에너제틱' 등 여러 곡이 차트 순위를 점령하며 큰 성공을 거뒀다.
Following the band's disbandment in December 2018, Kang has been forging a solo career.
지난해 12월 워너원이 해체된 이후 강다니엘은 솔로 활동을 준비해왔다.
He is also involved in a legal dispute with his former agency LM Entertainment.
강다니엘은 전 소속사인 LM엔터테인먼트와 법적 분쟁도 벌이고 있다.
Jihyo debuted as a member of the nine-piece girl group TWICE in 2015. It rose to stardom thanks to big hits including "Cheer Up" (2016) and "Knock Knock" (2017). The band is on a world tour, which will end on August 17.
지효는 2015년 9인조 걸그룹 트와이스의 멤버로 데뷔했다. 트와이스는'Cheer Up'과 'Knock Knock' 등이 히트하며 스타덤에 올랐다. 트와이스는 현재 월드투어 중이며, 8월 17일에 끝날 예정이다.
