Some episodes of the Japanese version of Mnet's audition show "Produce 101" will be filmed in Paju, in Korea's northern Gyeonggi Province, the music channel said Tuesday.

The show, which is co-produced by Osaka-based entertainment company Yoshimoto Kogyo, MCIP Holdings and Korea's CJ E&M that owns Mnet, will be aired only in Japan.

After filming the episodes in Paju, producers and contestants will continue the show in Japan.

Only aspiring Japanese singers who do not belong to any agencies are eligible to participate in the reality show. The top 11 participants will be given an opportunity to make their debuts as singers in 2020.

Despite growing anti-Japanese sentiment in Korea, triggered early June by Japan's export restrictions, many Koreans said online they support cultural exchanges between the two countries.
