As the dispute between star couple Koo Hye-sun and Ahn Jae-hyeon gets nasty, Ahn's birthday party video is in the spotlight after Koo's revelations of the sorry state of their three-year marriage.
On Aug. 22, Koo revealed their rocky married life on Instagram. She wrote: "My husband drank often and I have witnessed him talking on a phone with women at night. For his birthday, when I made a beef radish soup, waking up early in the morning, he only took two scoops and left me alone to have the party with other people. By then, I already knew he doesn't love me so much."
Koo's claim of being deserted by her husband on his birthday was backed by netizens who found a short video of his surprise birthday party on July 1 posted on his Instagram. Other photos showing him enjoying his birthday at a restaurant were also spread through online communities, adding to the credibility of Koo's statement.
As the video went viral, netizens' opinions turned against Ahn. One commented: "The feeling of being ignored and unloved hurts. It is wrong in the first place that a married man enjoys such a party without his wife."
As Ahn is known to be a close friend of illegal sex video scandal-hit singer Jung Joon-young, many fans expressed disappointment with the actor. "I should have known it in the first place, since you are a close friend of Jung," a fan wrote.
Some still support Ahn. One online user commented: "Is it so weird for a celebrity to be greeted by his staff? Let us stop the reckless blame game on the basis of unclear circumstances."
Signs of the troubled marriage emerged on Aug. 18, when Koo posted on Instagram captured images of their conversation, informing her fans that Anh plans to divorce despite her effort to save the marriage.
Four days later, Ahn posted on his social media the process and reason behind his decision. He wrote that he has suffered mentally during the marriage and has been taking medicine for depression.
Many netizens were sad at the broken relationship regardless of the truth behind the couple's statements. A netizen wrote: "Nobody knows the real story between a couple but seeing them blaming and shaming each other definitely doesn't look good."
