I congratulate all the award winners of the eighth Korea Multicultural Youth Awards and their parents.

I especially hope Kim Jae-ryeol, who won the grand prize, will achieve his dreams as a big data specialist.

You were selected for your unique merits. You help friends and neighbors in difficulties as if they were your family members. You speak both the languages of your father and mother, and have an interest in various cultures.

I believe these aptitudes of yours will enrich your future. There are older people from multicultural backgrounds here who have already achieved their dreams and succeeded. I hope you, too, will realize your dreams and grow as important members of society. The government will offer support and cheer you on.

We are living in a global era when people of all countries live in one community. Korea is no exception: People from various ethnic groups and culture mingle and live together in both rural and urban regions, schools and workplaces.

But there are some barriers that remain, and we have to remove them. To do so, together we need to care about one another. The government will make more considerate and careful efforts. Each of you are precious citizens of the Republic of Korea.

I thank The Korea Times for offering this meaningful award every year.
