Jin of K-pop boy band BTS said Wednesday he hoped people would employ honest ways to make music, presumably conveying his thoughts on the ongoing music chart manipulation scandal rocking Korea.

The singer made the remark as BTS accepted the Song of the Year award during the Mnet Asian Music Awards (MAMA) at the Nagoya Dome in Japan.

After expressing gratitude to fans, Jin said: "How about creating music using more honest means? I wish for the advent of an era in which everybody makes and appreciates good music."

Many speculate the singer was aiming at the chart manipulation scandal here. Some singers have been suspected of rigging their rankings mostly by employing an automatic mouse clicker program "macro" to keep replaying their tracks on streaming services.

Musicians ― including Park Kyung of boy band Block B ― have blasted the suspected singers either directly or indirectly over the allegation.

In a Nov. 24 Twitter post, Park said: "I want to 'hoard up' mine like Vibe, Song Ha-ye, Lim Jae-hyun, Jeon Sang-keun, Jang Deok-cheol and Hwang In-wook." He later deleted the post.

The singers Park mentioned revealed they would take legal action against him for alleged defamation. Park said he would fight the action.

Meanwhile, BTS clinched nine awards at the ceremony, including Artist of the Year, Best Male Group and Album of the Year.
