K-pop girl band TWICE's Nayeon is under police protection after an alleged stalker incident on a plane.

Her agency JYP Entertainment said on its official website that the incident occurred as Nayeon was returning to Seoul from Japan on Tuesday.

The alleged stalker, identified as German, followed Nayeon onto the plane and persistently attempted to approach her, even after being held back by bodyguards.

The statement said there was no physical harm to Nayeon but she is experiencing discomfort and anxiety.

"Nayeon is now under police protection," the agency said. "The stalker was warned several times in the presence of the police but ignored the warnings and tried to approach her. He escalated the situation by raising his voice and trying to clash with our security guards."

Nayeon posted this on the girl band's official Instagram account, hinting that a stalker followed her onto her flight. The post in Korean reads:

JYP said it will take the highest level of legal action against the man. It also is investigating how their artist's flight information was leaked online.

Earlier, on the group's official Instagram account, Nayeon posted a story with a picture of a window taken from inside the plane. It read: "Please go back home. Please stop. I beg you," causing concern among her fans.

The girl band's official fan club ONCE suggested the stalker was "Josh."

He posted a series of tweets after the plane arrived at Gimpo International Airport, claiming he was attacked by the band's managers on board as he tried to hand a love letter to Nayeon.

Angry fans have been retweeting his post, calling for his arrest and deportation.
