Samsung SDS is expanding further into the global mobile cybersecurity market, providing its security software to public organizations across the world, the IT affiliate of Samsung Group said Tuesday.

The company said it recently secured a supply deal to offer its enterprise mobility management (EMM) software to the Italian government.

With more people using mobile devices, companies and organizations are urged to use a management tool such as Samsung SDS' EMM to protect data and bolster the cybersecurity of their employees' devices.

The company said its EMM tool helps IT administrators of organizations not only to manage and secure employee-owned devices but also to efficiently distribute and control access to business mobile applications.

Since 2015, Samsung SDS has provided its EMM software to the U.S. Department of Defense, defense organizations of the U.K., and public agencies of Singapore.

Samsung SDS said its EMM software has been recognized for its security. In February, the company won the Common Criteria (CC) certification from the U.S.-based intelligence body National Information Assurance Partnership (NIAP).

"The CC certification is an essentially required for software to be used in public organizations. Samsung SDS won certification by expanding the encrypted communication section and by upgrading its security algorithm," the company said.

Samsung SDS also has increasingly secured supply deals of its software products. The company said it recently won additional orders from the Singapore public organizations for their indoor tracking system projects.

Under the contract, the indoor tracking system, which tracks the positioning of visitors inside the building and restricts access to secure areas to prevent security accidents, uses Samsung's Brigthics internet of things (IoT) service platform.

"Based on our differentiated technology, Samsung SDS is making progress in the global mobile security market," Lim Soo-hyun, who leads the company's solution business division, said. "By applying AI, IoT and blockchain technologies, we will keep expanding the business."
