Many major film releases have been pushed back again due to a resurgence of COVID-19 in Korea.
국내 코로나19의 재유행으로 많은 주요 영화들의 개봉일정이 다시 뒤로 밀렸다.
The country has reported three-digit figures on daily new infection cases for the past 15 days, with the latest new infection case number released on Friday reaching 371.
한국은 지난 15일 동안 일일 신규 확진자가 세 자릿수로 증가했으며, 금요일 발표된 신규 확진자 수는 371명에 달했다.
The government raised the social distancing guidelines to Level 2 on Sunday, and is cautiously reviewing the situation to raise them to Level 3.
정부는 지난 일요일 사회적 거리두기를 2단계로 격상했으며 3단계 격상을 위한 상황을 신중히 검토하고 있다.
Level 2 bans indoor gatherings of more than 50 and outdoor gatherings of more than 100, in comparison with Level 3 that bans gatherings of 10 people or more except for essential meetings for business and state affairs.
기업·국정 운영을 위한 필수 회의를 제외하고 10인 이상의 집합을 금지하는 3단계와 달리 2단계는 50인 이상 실내 집합과 100인 이상의 실외 집합을 금지한다.
The release of "Mulan" has been delayed to Sept. 17 from Sept. 10. Originally scheduled to hit the screens in March, the live-action remake of the 1998 animated film has been delayed four times.
영화 ‘뮬란'의 개봉은 9월 10일에서 9월 17일로 연기됐다. 원래 3월에 개봉될 예정이었던 이 1998년작 애니메이션의 실사판 리메이크의 개봉은 네 번이나 연기됐다.
"Given the country's COVID-19 situation, we have decided to delay the release of Mulan. We ask for everyone's understanding," distributor Walt Disney Co. Korea said in a news release.
"한국의 코로나19 상황을 감안하여 뮬란 개봉을 연기하기로 했다. 모두의 양해를 구한다"라고 배급사 월트 디즈니 코리아 측은 보도자료를 통해 말했다.
The film tells a story of legendary Chinese warrior Hua Mulan ― a fearless female warrior who disguises herself as a man to join the army in place of her ailing father.
이 영화는 중국의 전설적인 무사인 ‘후아 뮬란'(병든 아버지를 대신해 군대에 가기 위해 남자로 변장한 용감한 여성)에 대한 이야기를 다룬다.
Walt Disney Korea also announced delaying the release of "The King's Man" from September to the first half of next year.
월트 디즈니 코리아도 '킹스맨'의 개봉을 9월에서 내년 상반기로 연기한다고 발표했다.
"The New Mutants," a film spun out of the "X-Men" franchise, was originally set to premiere on Sept. 3 but has been pushed back to Sept. 10.
'엑스맨' 시리즈 중 하나인 '뉴 뮤턴트'는 원래 9월 3일 개봉 예정이었으나, 9월 10일로 연기됐다.
Domestic films also shifted their original opening schedules for this fall.
국산 영화들도 당초 올가을로 예정되어 있던 개봉 일정을 변경했다.

Distributor Merry Christmas said it was delaying the premiere of the sci-fi blockbuster "Space Sweepers," which was originally scheduled to hit screens Sept. 23. The company did not elaborate on a new release date.
배급사 메리크리스마스는 당초 9월 23일 개봉 예정이었던 SF 블록버스터 신작 ‘승리호'의 개봉을 연기한다고 밝혔다. 메리크리스마스 측은 새 개봉 예정일에 대해서는 자세히 언급하지 않았다.
"Space Sweepers," starring Song Joong-ki and Kim Tae-ri, a big-budget domestic film was expected to be released in cinemas around Chuseok holidays in September. Set in 2092, the film revolves around the crew of The Victory, who have been searching for lucrative space debris.
송중기, 김태리 주연의 국산 대작 영화 '승리호'는 9월 추석 연휴를 전후해 영화관에서 개봉될 예정이었다. 2092년을 배경으로 한 이 영화는 수익성이 높은 우주 잔해를 찾아 헤매는 우주선 승리호에 승선한 사람들을 중심으로 이야기가 펼쳐진다.
"Although Space Sweepers was set to premiere on Sept. 23, it has been postponed indefinitely. We will announce the new release date after monitoring the situation," the distributor said in a news release.
배급사 측은 보도자료를 통해 "9월 23일 개봉을 앞두고 있었지만 무기한 연기됐다. 상황을 지켜본 뒤 새로운 개봉일을 발표할 것"이라고 알렸다.
"Beauty Water," a local animated film originally set to premiere on Sept. 2, announced the release would be postponed. A new date has not been set.
9월 2일 개봉을 준비 중이던 국산 애니메이션 영화 '기기괴괴 성형수'도 개봉 연기를 선언했다. 새로운 날짜는 정해지지 않았다.
