Seoul Cyber University has appointed Kang In, a professor of elderly welfare, as the university's new president.
The university said Monday that Kang will take office soon as the 10th president, for a second time, as she had earlier served as the seventh president of the school

She was appointed recently as an executive director of the International Association of University Presidents (IAUP), an association of chief executives from higher education institutions around the world.
Kang is an expert in her field ― she served as vice president of the Korean Society of Gerontological Social Welfare as well as with the Korea Council on Social Welfare Education.
Also, she was a member of an experts' committee at the Korean Association of Retired Persons (KARP), a non-government organization affiliated with the United Nations.
"I feel a strong sense of responsibility as the new president of Seoul Cyber University, the school at the center of online education in Korea," Kang said in a statement.
"I will every effort into making our university an education hub where students can study anytime and anywhere, by introducing a new education paradigm and supporting the school in taking a leading position in the Fourth Industrial Revolution."
Established in 2001 and operated by Shinil Education Foundation, Seoul Cyber University is one of Korea's leading online educational institutions, with its campus based in Gangbuk District, northeastern Seoul.
The school's remote learning system has been recognized by the Ministry of Education, as it received an A rating, the highest out of four ratings in the certification of competency for remote universities, in January.
Its high-quality online education programs have become the benchmark for other on-campus universities, following the increased demand for remote learning amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
