Comedian Lee Su-geun is set to launch his first stand-up comedy show with Netflix.

It is the first time Lee has tried stand-up, which is uncommon in Korea where sketch comedy and variety shows are more popular.

The global streaming giant will give the comedian a platform where he can challenge the trend. On Monday, it announced the production of "Lee Su-geun: The Sense Coach" in which Lee will interact with a live audience as he listens to their worries. The release date has not been revealed.

"Lee will make the audience feel refreshed and relieved from their worries (through the show)," Netflix said. "He is expected to exhilarate the audience with his hilarious ad-libs and well-established comedic experience."

"Lee Su-geun: The Sense Coach" will be directed by Kim Joo-hyung, who took the helm of Netflix's first-ever variety show in Korea called "Busted!" starring comedian Yoo Jae-suk, actor Lee Kwang-soo and Sehun of K-pop boy band EXO, among others.

This is not the first time for Netflix to create a stand-up comedy show featuring a Korean comedian. It showcased "Yoo Byung Jae: Discomfort Zone" in 2018 and "Park Na-rae: Glamour Warning" in 2019.

Lee kicked off his career as a comedian on KBS's sketch-comedy show "Gag Concert" in 2003 and rose to stardom after becoming a fixture on KBS's variety show "Happy Sunday: 1 Night 2 Days." He also appeared on numerous hit programs including "New Journey to the West" and "Knowing Bros."

His ability to help people with their problems has drawn people's attention thanks to his role in the show "Unpredictable Fortunetellers," where he and basketball player-turned-TV personality Seo Jang-hoon offer solutions for people who visit them for advice.
