In celebration of 2021 as the Year of the Ox in the Chinese Zodiac, actors Ha Jung-woo and Ha Ji-won and pop singer Koo Jun-yup are presenting their bovine-themed artworks in the exhibition, "Woohaeng (Walking Cow)_Amulet."
A total of 12 local artists marry the theme of "cow" with strikingly diverse combinations of visuals and messages of hope
Ha Ji-won, whose acting career has spanned both the big and small screens, has also now made her official debut as an artist with the "Super Cow" series.
"Art is another form of language to me," she said at an interview with the exhibition's organizer, Lay Village. "When I'm acting in dramas or films, I express myself while being someone else. But on a canvas, it is the real me who speaks."
Singer Koo, also known as DJ Koo, has created a pop art styled piece "Point of View by Cow" out of everyday packing tape. The colors of the cow's eyes were inspired by 3D viewing glasses used at theaters, with one lens tinted blue and the other red.
"I hoped that the human world of 2021 seen by this cow will be more dynamic, vibrant and more developed."
Ha Jung-woo wears many hats as an actor, director and artist, and has built his reputation in the art circle with 10 solo exhibitions. His artwork "Good Morning" greets the audiences with its simple yet defined strokes and colors.
Other featured artists include Kim Ji-hee, Song Hyeong-no, Woo Kuk-won, KOMA, Jung Ji-pil, Jung Yeon-yeon, Art Nom, Paik Yun-zo and Kim Jeong-seon.
The exhibit will run until June 19 at the Signature Kitchen Suite showroom in Cheongdam, Seoul.
