The 17th Venice Biennale International Architecture Exhibition, titled "How Will We Live Together?" is set to run from May 22 to Nov. 21, the Arts Council Korea announced Wednesday. At the exhibition, the Korean Pavilion will run a program themed "Future School," where it will promote dialogue and develop solidarity on social issues such as population displacement and climate change, which are urgent tasks facing the world. A wide range of works by experts and architects will be featured both in the Venice and Future School Online events.

Future School Online will be a platform for various workshops, lectures and performances taking place around the globe. Viewers can experience more than 50 unique programs ranging from the "Cool City" design that aims to reduce the impact of the urban heat island effect, to future studies that take a look at alternative educational school systems.

This year, Shin Hye-won will be the first woman creative director to lead the Korean Pavilion's program. Shin has earlier been recognized for initiating a dialogue for the establishment of the National Pavilion Curators Collective, a historic collaborative initiative joined by over 40 countries for the first time in the International Architecture Exhibition's 40-year history. Its goal has been to explore new avenues for the Biennale to move forward as a venue for accessible collaboration in the face of the COVID-19 epidemic and beyond.
