Korea has confirmed the season's second case of highly pathogenic avian influenza at a poultry farm, the North Chungcheong provincial government said Friday.

The announcement came after the agricultural ministry identified a suspected case the previous day at a duck farm in Eumseong, North Chungcheong Province.

The latest case follows South Korea's confirmation of the season's first highly pathogenic bird flu case last week.

Agricultural authorities issued a standstill order on all duck farms across the country on Thursday, effective until 11 p.m. Friday. (Yonhap)
