Ulsan HD FC celebrated their third consecutive K League 1 title by winning their season finale Saturday, while Gangwon FC put a bow on their most successful season with a victory.

Ulsan HD defeated Suwon FC 4-2 at Munsu Football Stadium in Ulsan, 300 kilometers southeast of Seoul, to finish the season with 72 points. They had already secured the league title by beating Gangwon FC 2-1 on Nov. 1, with two matches remaining in the season.

After that win, they only celebrated with a mock trophy that a fan handed to them. On Saturday, they lifted the real championship trophy in front of 24,096 fans.

Ulsan finished the season with a new single-season club record of 348,119 fans. The previous mark, set last year, was 345,990.

Forward Park Chu-young, set to retire after the season, had a goal and an assist for Ulsan, and finished his career with 77 goals and 24 assists.

With the score tied at 2-2, Park set up Ataru Esaka's go-ahead goal in the 84th minute. And five minutes later, Park netted the insurance goal for Ulsan, who are just the third team in K League history to win at least three titles in a row.

At Gangneung Stadium in Gangneung, 170 kilometers east of Seoul, Gangwon FC blanked Pohang Steelers 1-0 to finish the season in second place with 64 points. They had never ranked higher than sixth place before.

Yang Min-hyeok, Gangwon's teenage sensation, netted the match's only goal in his final match for the team. The 18-year-old signed for Tottenham Hotspur in July and will join the Premier League club in December.

He finished the season with 12 goals and six assists, more than any other freshman in the league. Yang has been nominated for both the MVP and the Young Player of the Year awards.

Gimcheon Sangmu FC began the day in second place but ended up in third with 63 points after losing to FC Seoul 3-1 on Saturday.

The top six teams in the K League 1 finished their campaigns Saturday. The bottom six clubs will play their final matches of the season Sunday.

Incheon United have already clinched last place and will be directly relegated to the K League 2 next year. Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors (41 points) and Daegu FC (40 points) are in 10th and 11th place for now, and Sunday's results will determine who will face which K League 2 club in the upcoming promotion-relegation playoffs.
