Woori Bank opened four new branches dedicated to foreign customers, called "global desks," on Friday. Some of them will also begin operating on Sundays for the convenience of customers.

Woori said it established the four new global desks at its headquarters in Seoul, Gwanghui-dong banking center in Seoul, Uijeongbu banking center in Gyeonggi Province and Gimhae banking center in South Gyeongsang Province.

Each desk will specialize in serving customers from specific regions: the United States and China, Mongolia and Russia, Thailand and Cambodia, and Indonesia, respectively.

The Uijeongbu and Gimhae centers will operate every Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., while the Gwanghui-dong banking center will open on the second and fourth Sundays of each month during the same hours. This initiative is aimed at accommodating foreign customers who find it difficult to visit the bank on weekdays.

Woori Bank's global desks now total eight locations, including those at the bank's Seoul National University and Guro Bon-dong branches in Seoul and Sinjeju and Seogwipo branches on Jeju Island.

The newly established global desks will be staffed with foreign employees from respective countries, offering services such as opening an account, smart banking, foreign exchange and remittance services and personalized consultations on financial products.

"We plan to expand dedicated counters in areas with large foreign populations," a Woori Bank official said. "We will continue to work toward providing improved financial services for our foreign customers."
