A 4.3-magnitude earthquake struck off the coast of the eastern city of Donghae, Gangwon Province, the Korea Meteorological Administration (KMA) said on Friday. It happened at 11:16 a.m. The epicenter was about 55 kilometers east of the city.
Tremors of magnitude three or four were felt in eastern parts of the province, the KMA said. There are no immediate reports of property damage or injuries.
This was the strongest of 26 seismic events on and around the Korean Peninsula this year, according to the agency.
