LG Electronics has expanded its digital sign business by installing more than 10,000 commercial displays at indoor golf simulator franchise Topgolf in the U.S., the company said Wednesday.

The company said it recently completed the installation of the 10,000 commercial displays at 50 Topgolf venues.

"Since we first installed the commercial displays at a Topgolf venue in Orlando, Florida in 2018, the company has supplied our products to the golf franchise," an LG official said.

Topgolf is known for providing not only indoor golf rounds to its customers but also a top chef-prepared dining experience hand-crafted beers and social event spaces. At nearly 60 locations across the U.S. and internationally, the company has over 20 million customers annually.

LG has been focusing on improving its share in the fast-growing commercial display market. According to data from International Data Corporation (IDC), the commercial display market in 2018 was estimated at 3.5 million and is forecast to grow to 4.4 million by 2020.

"We cannot reveal the price of the contract. However, supplying more than 10,000 commercial displays to Topgolf will help us expand our digital display business in the U.S.," the official said.

The commercial displays installed at Topgolf venues are equipped with webOS, the LG operating system, so visitors can remotely control and manage gaming systems using controllers.

To develop the operating system, LG joined hands with audio and visual control software company SAVI Controls, Topgolf's system integrator Diem Digital and Toptracer.
