From Feb. 12 to 14, the Seoul-based international organization sent representatives from 15 Korean animation companies to Jakarta to find ways for cooperation and to study up-to-date trends of the animation industry there.

Participating companies included Iconics and Vooz Club ― the former the producer of popular cartoon character Pororo the Little Penguin and the latter creating Canimals.

The visit came as Indonesian President Joko Widodo pushes his country to become a powerhouse in the global creative economy by nurturing related sectors.

On February 13, the delegation attended the "Indonesia-Korea animation industry cooperation forum" co-organized by the center and the Ministry of Trade of Indonesia.

The delegates and Indonesian participants discussed strategies and practices in producing and exporting animated content.

The Seoul delegation later went to Indonesia's Creative Contents Agency, which operates under the auspices of the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy, and two major animation studios ― MNC Studio and Little Giantz.

Indonesia also has made the tourism industry one of the driving forces of its economic growth and has also implemented strategic policies such as the "10 New Bali Project."

Accordingly, the center and the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy of Indonesia co-organized a trip from Feb. 10 to 14 to promote travel programs in Jakarta and East Kalimantan.

Among the participants was former Miss Korea and the center's honorary ambassador Keum Na-na.

The tour programs centered on modern art and a healthy lifestyle related activities.

Participants visited major art galleries and cultural complexes and had opportunities to talks with two modern art experts ― Aaron Seeto and Tom Tandio.

The participants later visited East Kalimantan province, where Indonesia's new capital will be built. The region offers vast tropical forests and natural greenery.
