Korea reports 43 new coronavirus cases, community infections around Seoul continue

New COVID-19 infections linked to community spreading have jumped to the highest level in more than two weeks, with many being reported in Seoul and the surrounding Gyeonggi Province, according to the health authorities, Saturday.

The Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (KCDC) announced 43 more confirmed COVID-19 cases over the past 24 hours, including 30 via local spread, the highest daily number of community infections in 16 days. The other cases were among overseas arrivals.

The total caseload rose to 14,562, with the number of deaths rising by one to 304.

The updated tally came amid continued reports of cases tied to church gatherings in the eastern Seoul district of Seongdong, and Goyang, northwest of the cpaital. (Yonhap)
