Nongshim said Wednesday it has released a new edition of its best-selling Shin Ramyun instant noodles ― Shin Ramyun Black Tofu Kimchi ― in a bagged version.

Shin Ramyun Black is a premium version of Shin Ramyun, with more flakes and improved flavor from the pork broth. As the new instant noodles contain dried tofu and dried kimchi, the company said it tastes like "kimchi jjigae," or kimchi stew.

"Shin Ramyun Black Tofu Kimchi is an instant noodle that combines the taste of tofu kimchi stew with the deep and thick soup of Shin Ramyun Black," the company said. "We tried to deliver the taste of kimchi jjigae with soft tofu and crunchy kimchi."

Nongshim launched a cup noodle version of Shin Ramyun Black Tofu Kimchi in August and consumers have given favorable reviews.

"Consumers have made favorable comments on the new product," the company said. "They said it tastes like eating instant noodles in kimchi jjigae at a famous restaurant."

Nongshim expects the new product to become popular as more people try to create their own recipes.

The company also expects good sales as people are staying at home more due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic.
