The conference was initiated by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to expand India's role and presence in international community and support multilateralism. Not only Modi but also many top officials of the Indian government are participating as panelists.
This year's event is being held online due to COVID-19 pandemic from Tuesday to Friday.
Song especially talked about investment, innovation and infrastructure in the Indo-Pacific region in the post-coronavirus era at Wednesday's session titled "The Architecture of the Future: Building a New Indo-Pacific." She focused on cooperation between Korea and India in line with the Moon Jae-in administration's New Southern Policy.
Other panelists of the session included former Australian Prime Minister Tony Abbott, India's Ports, Shipping and Waterways Minister Mansukh Mandaviya, and Japan Bank for International Cooperation Governor Tadashi Maeda.
Song previously led the Seoul-based Institute for Global Economics and served as special adviser to the chairman of the Presidential Committee for the Seoul G20 Summit.
