Actor Ji Chang-wook is set to star in the new Netflix original series "The Sound of Magic," according to the streaming giant Thursday.

In the music drama "The Sound of Magic," Ji will play a mysterious magician who wants to remain a child. Actress Choi Sung-eun ― best known for her appearance in JTBC TV series "Beyond Evil" ― will play opposite him, taking a role as a precocious girl who gets to experience "incredible" things as she encounters him. Actor Hwang In-youp appears as a gifted student whose life takes a turn after taking an interest in magic.

"The Sound of Magic" will be directed by Kim Sung-yoon, the man behind the success of "Itaewon Class" (2020), and written by Kim Min-jung. The two previously worked together for KBS 2TV's drama "Love in the Moonlight" (2016), which featured Park Bo-gum and Kim Yoo-jung.

"The pair, who created great synergy in their previous work, will combine magic, music and sentimentalism to reincarnate The Sound of Magic'" Netflix said in a statement.

The series is based on the popular webcomic "Annarasumanara" created by Ha Il-kwon, whose works include "Sambong Barber Shop" (2006) and "God of Bath" (2011).

Ji made his small screen debut in 2008 on the drama "You Stole My Heart." He was catapulted to fame after appearing on several hits including "Smile Again" (2010-11), "Empress Ki" (2013-14) and "The K2" (2016). He recently starred in Kakao TV's "City Couple's Way of Love" which is available on Netflix as well.
