The long-anticipated second season of tvN's hit series "Hospital Playlist" is finally set to air June 17, the network announced Thursday.

The cable channel unveiled photos of the production's table reading from January, gearing up for the new season's premiere.

"Season 2 will follow a more compact and heartwarming storyline that extends bits and pieces of the plot from the first season," director Shin Won-ho said through the network.

Friends since medical school, five doctors with different specialties ― Lee Ik-joon (Cho Jung-seok), Ahn Jeong-won (Yoo Yeon-seok), Kim Jun-wan (Jung Kyoung-ho), Yang Seok-hyeong (Kim Dae-myung) and Chae Song-hwa (Jeon Mi-do) ― come to work at the same hospital.

The series delves into the interwoven relationships of the friends, and everyday lives of medical staff and patients at the hospital, each with different stories to tell.

The feel-good series, which premiered in May last year, is the latest project by the director-writer duo ― Shin and screenwriter Lee Woo-jeong. The two have created a strong fandom among K-drama fans through their "Replay" series since 2012.

The first season of "Hospital Playlist" garnered a successful viewership rating, ending with its highest record at 14.1 percent nationwide. It was praised for its relatable and easy-going storyline and riveting performances from the actors.

"The viewers will be able to see deeper chemistry among director Shin Won-ho, writer Lee Woo-jeong, and the cast members, building on the incredible teamwork they showed through the first season," the network noted. "As the viewers have been anticipating the new season for a long time, we will do our best to offer a great show that meets their expectations."

"Hospital Playlist 2" will air every Thursday at 9 p.m. starting June 17.
