K-pop group Highlight is set to make a comeback on the music scene after more than a two-year hiatus due to its members serving their mandatory military service.

The group's agency, Around Us Entertainment, announced Friday that "Highlight will release a new mini-album, The Blowing, on May 3 at 6 p.m."

It also unveiled a timeline of the album's promotion schedule, including dates for the teaser and track list upload, leading towards the release date.

This will be the group's first work since releasing the special mini-album, "OUTRO," in November 2018.

Its leader Yoon Doo-joon became the first one in the group to enlist in the military three months before the special album's release.

Since then, the rest of the quartet ― consisting of Yoon, Lee Gi-kwang, Son Dong-woon, and Yang Yo-seob ― subsequently began their mandatory service.

Prior to the official kick-off of its latest music project, the group is also set to star in a reality show named after the band, "Highlight."

The 12-part series is scheduled to premiere on the streaming service wavve, Friday. It will show the members going on a trip in a camping car to a rural area in Taebaek, Gangwon Province. As they camp on their own, the singers catch up with each other after their time apart.

Two episodes will be released every Friday at 11 a.m.

Highlight debuted as six-piece boy band BEAST in 2009. The group, excluding former member Jang Hyun-seung, was renamed Highlight in 2017, after leaving its agency Cube Entertainment. The group has released a string of hits, including "Fiction" (2011) and "Beautiful Night" (2012).

Another member, Yong Jun-hyung, was kicked out of the group in 2019 after being involved in illegally making sex tapes without the consent of the women involved.
