The Korea Foundation is presenting six virtual concerts throughout September.

Titled "Reconnecting in Harmony," the concert series aims to introduce world music to Korean as well as international audiences in collaboration with the embassies of Brazil, Paraguay and Singapore in Korea.

The foundation launched its virtual concert series last year when it became difficult to listen to world-class musicians live due to the global pandemic. Thanks to the popularity of last year's "Stay Joyful" series, the foundation has brought back the online concerts.

The concerts are released every Tuesday and Thursday, except for during the Chuseok holiday week.

Brazilian musicians Joao Camarero and Anna Setton kicked off the series on Sept. 7, which coincides with Independence Day in Brazil.

Camarero is a guitarist who won the MIMO Instrumental Award in Brazil in 2015 and has played with many musicians, including Altamiro Carillho, Leny Andrade and Yamandu Costa.

Setton is a singer-songwriter from Sao Paolo. She released her first album in 2018, with songs written for her by Edu Sangirardi, Toquinho and Paulo Cesar Pinheiro.

"In 2019, we had the opportunity to be in your country, presenting a little of our work," Setton said in an introduction to their concert.

"We both experienced an amazing reception and the affection of the Korean audience. We hope to return to Korea again to enjoy more of this beautiful country," Camarero added.

Setton and Camarero presented three songs: "Toada," "Vento Brando" and "Aguas de Marco."

On Sept. 9, Denis Sungho, a Belgian musician adopted from Korea, performed music in relation to his story.

Paraguayan vocal group Trovabohemia will present Latin folk music on Sept. 14, while Korean cellist Christine J. Lee, violinist Kim Jae-won and French pianist Theo Fouchenneret will showcase a collaboration beyond borders on Sept. 16.

In the last week, the Embassy of Singapore in Seoul will present a concert of soprano Victoria Songwei Li from the New Opera Singapore, who will collaborate with Korean baritone Kang Min-seong on Sept. 28.

The series will wrap up with Korean avant-rock band Jambinai, known for combining rock music with Korean traditional instruments, such as the haegeum (vertical fiddle), piri (flute) and geomungo (zither).

The concerts are available on the Korea Foundation's YouTube channel.
