Choyeon and Eunchae, who made their names known through Mnet's audition program "Produce 48" in 2018, will debut as members of the new K-pop girl group bugAboo on Oct. 25.

BugAboo is the first K-pop girl group launched by songwriter/producer Ryan Jhun, who previously worked with high-profile stars like IU, NCT 127 and OH MY GIRL. The group's name at first glance may appear cryptic. But bugAboo gave interested parties a hint at its true meaning when the group revealed it aims to embody the idea of "being a surprise to the world" as well as "overcoming a fear of surprises."

According to its management company A team Entertainment, bugAboo is a multinational group with six members. One of the members, Cyan, was featured in a music video of K-pop boy band VAV.

"BugAboo's debut album will offer two songs ― bugAboo and All Night Play," A team said in a statement, without providing further details about the tunes.

On Saturday, A team unveiled a teaser for the "bugAboo" music video. In the 49-second clip, the members are holding enigmatic objects such as an apple and a red balloon, creating a sense of mystery.

The six-piece act is poised to hold an event to introduce and promote its new release on Oct. 22.
