US forces anger animal rights group for brutally executing stray cats with air gun

More than 10 stray cats have been shot and killed with an air gun by US forces at Osan Airbase, according to a news report from public broadcaster KBS.

KBS broadcasted a video showing an individual who appears to be military personnel shooting at a cat in a cage with an air gun. The footage was filmed at the US air force base in Osan, located in Pyeongtaek, Gyeonggi Province last December.

According to the domesic animal protection law, killing stray cats with lethal weapons constitutes animal cruelty. Stray cats are categorized as abandoned animals and the law strictly prohibits the act of poaching, killing and selling abandoned animals.
