LG Innotek has been recognized as a qualified supplier by Jaguar Land Rover for the second consecutive year, the LG Group affiliate said Thursday.

The company said it maintained the Jaguar Land Rover Quality Certification from the premium vehicle maker.

"Jaguar Land Rover evaluates the quality and delivery compliance of the component that its partner companies supply to the company and selects the partners that have shown excellence to award them the certification," LG Innotek said in a statement.

LG Innotek said winning the certification for two years in a row means a lot because even if a company receives certification once, they can lose it right away if they don't maintain the quality of the product.

"The certification that LG Innotek received this time has a significant meaning in that the company's quality system has been recognized by a global premium car manufacturer. Automotive components are subjected to thorough quality controls as they have a direct impact on the lives of drivers and passengers as well as pedestrians. Especially, as Jaguar Land Rover produces premium automobiles, its quality criteria are known to be very rigorous and thorough," LG Innotek said.

LG Innotek has supplied DC-DC converters to the carmaker since 2017. The component is used to convert high-voltage direct current from the battery into low-voltage direct current suitable for the internal components of a vehicle.

Its DC-DC converters have been installed in the plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) version of Jaguar Land Rover's premium models such as the Range Rover and the Range Rover Sport.

Winning the certification for the second consecutive year, the company will continue to make efforts to ensure that the automotive component business remains one of its key businesses.

"The company will make efforts to innovate customer experience in the field of next-generation automotive components by leveraging its top-notch quality control system and cutting-edge technologies in vehicle sensors, cameras, communication modules, etc.," Yoo Byaeng-kuk, head of Automotive Components & Electronics Business Unit of LG Innotek said.
