According to the sources, the driver picked up the 33-year-old woman and her infant daughter from the city of Mathura and drove to New Delhi on Thursday.
The criminal drugged the woman over several times during the 150-kilometers journey and committed the crime when she passed out.
After the rape, the criminal left them on a bench near a railway station in New Delhi, where the victim found herself with her crying child beside her as she woke up from the drug effect.
The sources said the woman had moved to Mathura three years ago because of her dedicated faith to Krishna, the Hindu God known to originate from the city. She's been in a clothing trade business to make a living since moving to the city.
New Delhi police said the criminal is still on the loose.
On Monday, an international conflict expert Kim Young-mi appeared in a radio program “Kim Hyun-jung's News Show” from Korea's Christian Broadcasting System, according to another source.
A freelance program director, Kim, commenting on India's recent rape occurrences, pointed out the nation's customary low esteem of women as the main cause.
“Indian men tend to misjudge that foreign women have comparatively liberal orientation about sex,” said Kim on the program. “Women must be careful when travelling in India alone.”
The source cited Kim as mentioning that Indian police had even persuaded the 17-year-old victim of a gang rape of Sept. 10 last year to marry one of the criminals.
After the incident, the girl killed herself six days later out of “humiliation,” according to the statements made by her bereaved father.

최근 인도에서 딸과 함께 여행 중이던 폴란드 여성이 2세 딸이 보는 앞에서 택시 운전기사에 강간당하는 사건이 발생하는 등 성폭행이 끊이질 않는 것과 관련해 '옷이나 행실, 약간 서구적인 스타일 등을 빌미삼아 여성의 문제라고 인식해 성폭행 피해자가 오히려 가해자와 결혼을 해야 하고 그게 성폭행의 해법으로 제시된다'고 전문가가 설명했다.
국제분쟁 전문 프리랜서 PD 김영미 씨는 6일 CBS라디오 '김현정의 뉴스쇼'와 통화에서 '인도는 여성에 대한 인권의식이 전반적으로 낮기 때문에 성폭행을 당해도 어디 가서 말도 못 꺼내고 피해자를 탓하는 문화가 많이 퍼져 있다'며 이같이 말했다.
그는 집단성폭행을 당한 후 자살한 17세 소녀의 사례를 통해 이 같은 분위기를 전했다.
그는 '경찰이 고소를 취하하고 합의하자고 유도하는 과정에서 가해자 1명과 결혼하라고 계속 종용했다고 한다'고 소개했다.
그는 외국인 여성 상대 성폭행 사건이 많은 것에 대해 '외국 여성은 성적으로 개방적일 거라는 인도 남성들의 착각이 있기 때문'이라며 '여성 혼자 여행하려면 항상 조심해야 한다' 고 당부했다.
한편 외신에 따르면 폴란드 국적의 피해 여성은 33세로 딸과 함께 현재 거주 중인 북부 우타르프라데시 주(州) 마투라에서 택시를 타고 수도 뉴델리로 향하던 길에 변을 당했다.
라잔 바갓 델리 경찰 대변인은 AFP 통신에 '해당 택시 기사는 마투라에서 뉴델리까지 약 150km에 이르는 여정동안 수차례 피해 여성에 마약을 복용토록 했다'며 '여성이 의식을 잃은 뒤 범행이 이뤄졌다'고 설명했다. 피해 여성은 강간을 당한 뒤 딸과 함께 뉴델리의 한 기차역 벤치에서 발견됐다. 피해 여성은 힌두교 영웅신 크리슈나 신을 신봉해 3년 전부터 크리슈나 신의 탄생지로 추정되는 마투라에서 의류 수출업을 하며 거주해 온 것으로 전해졌다.
현지 경찰은 가해자가 아직 잡히지 않았다고 밝혔다.
