Montreal police are looking for a woman who was seen in an Internet video eating a dead bird on the subway.
In a mobile-phone footage posted on YouTube earlier this month, passengers are seen shrieking, gasping and fleeing to the other end of the subway car as a woman plucks feathers and eats the lifeless, uncooked creature from a plastic bag.
"There's an investigation going on in order to find this young woman," said Montreal police official Manuel Couture, adding that the woman is believed to be between 17 and 25 years old.
"There's no accusation against the woman right now. There's only an investigation."
Couture said the investigation began after a "member of the public" reported that the video, shot at the Jean Talon station, was circulating online.

여성의 엽기적인 행각을 담은 비디오는 장 탈론 역에서 전동차가 정차하는 도중 한 승객에 의해 찍혔다. 영상 속 여성은 전동차 안에서 자신이 갖고 있던 비닐봉지 속을 뒤지다가 죽은 새를 꺼내어 바닥에 놓더니 깃털을 뽑기 시작한다. 여성에게 시선이 향한 주변에 있던 대부분의 승객들은 일부는 여성을 호기심 있게 지켜보고 또 다른 일부는 메스꺼움을 호소하듯 입을 손으로 가리며 자리를 옮긴다. 여성은 깃털을 뽑자 새의 살을 뜯어 먹기 시작한다.
인터넷에 올라온 영상을 계기로 수사를 시작한 경찰은 여성을 찾아 그녀의 행위가 문화적 배경에 따른 것이었는지 아니면 극심한 허기에 의한 것인지 등을 추궁할 계획이다.
