American actor Daniel Dae Kim will produce an adaptation of the Korean medical drama "Good Doctor," reports said.
The Korean-born Kim, known for his roles on "Lost" and "Hawaii Five-0," has partnered with American broadcaster CBS for the drama's debut.
"There's something that Korean TV does that no other country does - the way they portray heartbreak and melodrama," Kim told The Hollywood Reporter in May.
"In America, there are more serialized dramas and there can be room for something inspired by Korean TV, because I believe good content can transcend cultural barriers," he added.
The adapted drama revolves around a pediatric surgeon in Boston with Asperger syndrome.
Good Doctor aired on Korean broadcaster KBS last year.

드라마 '굿 닥터’ 미국 CBS에서 리메이크
미국 배우 다니엘 대 김이 지난해 한국에서 방영된 메디컬 드라마 ‘굿 닥터’의 리메이크를 총괄하게 된다.
한국에서 태어난 그는 미국 드라마 ‘로스트’와 ‘하와이 파이브 오’에 출연했던 배우로 유명하지만 이번에는 제작자로 활약한다. 리메이크 된 이후에 미국 CBS를 통해 방영될 예정이다.
“한국 TV는 다른 국가들이 하지 못하는 무언가가 있습니다. 그들이 멜로드라마를 표현하는 방식은 특히 아주 뛰어납니다. 저는 이런 좋은 컨텐츠들이 문화적 장벽을 뛰어넘어 더 널리 알려졌으면 하는 바람이 있습니다” 라고 그가 할리우드 리포터와의 인터뷰에서 밝혔다.
리메이크된 드라마는 보스턴에 있는 한 병원에서 아스페르거 증후군을 앓고 있는 한 소아과 의사의 이야기를 담을 예정이다.
한편 굿 닥터는 KBS에서 작년에 방영돼 국내 팬들에게 큰 인기를 얻었다.
