The world is eyeing the bio industry as the next growth engine, hoping it will solve many human problems such as diseases, food shortages, environmental pollution and energy shortages.

For those wishing to know how far humankind has come in biotechnological development, the 2014 Osong International Bio Industry Exposition may be the place to visit.

The expo this year has diverse programs tailored for each generation, through which they can take a look into the latest trends in the biotech industry.

For the middle-aged visitors, the Bio Health Experience Center will offer information on the healthy life that will be realized through the bio industry.

For instance, they will get a glimpse into bio sensor technology, which will detect cancer, cardiologic and thyroid diseases by analyzing a drop of blood. A bio sign detector that examines depression and dementia will also be exhibited. Visitors can also learn how to measure their stress levels using mobile devices.

The Beauty Experience Center, meanwhile, expects to attract the younger generation and females. They will experience the latest technologies of Korea that help them become more beautiful.

Services will include customized beauty consulting in relation to aging, hair loss and obesity, demonstrations by a makeup artist, smart skin management, air brushing and scalp massages.

The Edu Experience Center, meanwhile, aims to attract young students. The exhibitions at the center will stimulate visitors' interest in bio science. Virtual cells, recombination of genes and simple bioscience experiments will let visitors know that bio sciences are fun.

The bio laboratory will offer classes on DNA and anatomy. After visiting the expo, young students may consider finding a job in the biotech industry.

"By closely relating the diverse experience centers and exhibitions with our daily lives, we hope to enhance visitors' interest in the future of the biotech industry," a spokesperson of the organizing committee said.

The expo will be held at Osong Biovalley near KTX Osong Station, from Sept. 26 through Oct. 12. For reservations, visit the Nonghyup branches nationwide or the official Expo Website, www.bio-osong.kr.
