LG Uplus is participating in the oneM2M showcase in Nice, France, to demonstrate its Internet of Things (IoT) platform based on machine-to-machine (M2M) technology.

oneM2M, the world's largest standardization body for M2M communications, has been holding the fair in the French city since Tuesday ― it will end today.

Companies, research centers and standardization organizations will demonstrate their IoT technologies and platforms at the showcase.

LG Uplus said it would unveil its own IoT platform at the show, which is based on M2M technology.

The company has developed "Car and Home" connect services based on the IoT platform, allowing users to control lights or temperatures at home from their car, and control several car functions such as door-locks from home.

Users are also able to control their vehicles and electronic system in their house through wearable devices such as smartwatches.

"LG Uplus added the global standard of M2M to the existing IoT service infrastructure so as to target the international market," said Kahng Jong-oh, general manager at the platform development division of the company.

Kang said the company will support small- and medium-sized enterprises and startups in the IoT business.

oneM2M has unveiled its initial Candidate Release of Technical Specifications, the first step toward international recognition of the M2M standard.

M2M refers to technologies that allow wireless and wired systems to communicate with similar devices. It provides customized services to users by collecting data and distributing it among the devices.
